Link A Day

Yay for the weekend!  It has been a productive week for my new years resolution of cozying up our rooms.  Lots of little projects done and now they need to be hung and what not.  It feels good to work on things.  However it wasn't a good month for my March goals.  Blah!  I start over in April.  New month new chance.  I like that.  Links anyone?

It is supposed to rain and snow in good ol' Utah tomorrow.  This soup just might be a perfect way to warm up!

I really love this tutorial from A Beautiful Mess on how to fake TTV photos.  I wouldn't have ever thought about doing that.  Genius!

These minty geo earrings make me smile and they would match the minty nail polish I am wearing right now.  Every one knows you are supposed to match your nail polish an earrings, right?  No?

Okay so this post is freaking awesome and very informative for the Target junkies out there.  You know who you are and I think we should be best friends!

I want this bangle for Mother's Day.  Yeah I think ahead friends!  I love making wish lists.

Apparently the key to being happy is making your bed so I am pretty much screwed.

I really really really want this letter H for our house.  H is for HAWT of course!

Fill In The Blank

1.  My greatest strength is   my ability to see both sides of a story.  I am a gemini and they say that that helps with having an open mind. I am not sure who the "they" are that say that but I like it!   .

2.   My greatest weakness is    I procrastinate everything!  Like everything.  As a matter of fact stop procrastinating should have been my new years resolution!    .

3.  People always compliment me on     my kids being polite and on my eyes.    .

4. If you found me procrastinating you'd probably find me    playing Bejeweled 2 or on the blogosphere .

5. The most cozy place in all the world is   my new bed!  Woot!  I love it and can't wait to go to bed at night .

6. Something new that I tried recently was    Gold Bond medicated lotion and I love it!  It works wonders for my hands.  They used to be crazy dry and achy all the time.  Now it is only when I forget to use my lotion    .

7.  This weekend I would like to   get my mirror, picture and feathers hung and photographed and eat some funfetti cupcakes   .

my boy baby is growing up

These are my first flowers from the boy baby!  *Tear*  He handed me one flower to start and then proceeded to hand a whole handful to the girl baby.  It was so sweet that he gave a whole bouquet to his baby sister but I couldn't help but want to knock her over and steal her flowers and run.  I resisted and was rewarded with two more flowers for me.  And just me!  My Nicco is so sweet!  He is an actual little person now.  I can hardly even call him boy baby anymore.  But I won't ever stop!  Even if he begs me.  He is funny, charming, kind and eager to please!  I am in mad love!

Beehive Bump Ponytail

I have had to keep reminding myself of my new years resolution's.  I am hanging on by a thread people!  Well at least on some of them.  I resolved to do my hair 4 out of 7 days a week.  Yeah.....  I have not kept up with that.  Not even kind of.  I am re-re-resolving to work on it.  I have been pinning and bookmarking the crap out of cute hairstyles in hopes of inspiring myself.  I haven't actually done one.  Not a single one!  ON to a new feature on this here blog.  I am going to re-create my long list of hairstyles.  I don't think that it will be on a set day every week.  I am going to just post when I can get the hairstyles done and photographed.  It is going to be fun for me!  Trying out new things and what not.

My first one is a Beehive Ponytail from over at Two Happy Hearts.  Um have you seen this blog?  cause you should!  I have bookmarked a few different hair-do's from Christen's delightful blog.  Any ways, next time I am going to tease the heck out of my hair and do a big bump.  Like super super big!  I love the retro feel of this look and it was crazy easy.  Just tease, twist, pin and waallaa!  My type of style.  Mine ended up a little more messy than Christen's.  Which is okay by me.

Deliciousness on the go yo!

What?!  Deliciousness on the go?  Yeah this was a highlight this weekend.  Even if I said  I wasn't going to share with the kids and then they ate pretty much all of it.

Link A Day

It has been a busyish week my friends!  Not good busy but not bad either.  Just busy.  I need to get my butt in gear on some little projects I want to get done but I swear that life gets in the way sometimes.  And t.v. gets in the way!  I think we are going to have to have a television fast.  It has gotten bad!  We watch far too much tv and netflix.  Speaking of which I freaking love Netflix!  Could that be part of the problem?  Yeah I think so!!  Why must it be so fantastic?  Any ways... on to the links of the week!

How about making green slime instead of watching tv?  It even glows in the dark!

Or learn to tie a turban?  I gotta admit that I love the turban look but can't decide if I can totally pull it off. I should just do it and rock it and forget anyone who doesn't like it!

I really love the idea of giving loved shoes a second life.  Check out this awesome tutorial to make cute cute patches.  I might do this to my Toms.

We are big lovers of root beer around our house.  And cake... but who doesn't love cake?  Combine the two and we would be in heaven!  Enter this root beer bundt cake.

I think these mounted toy animal heads are so cute!  I think maybe Nicco needs some dinosaur ones in his room.

This hotel room in France is blowing my mind!  It would be so unnerving for me.  I don't think I could fall asleep.  However I like looking at pictures of it!

This book is for anyone with little yogis in their house.  To be totally honest it would benefit any new yoga enthusiast like myself!

Fill In The Blanks

1.  My favorite color is     orange as of late   .

2.   My home decor color palette includes    the whole rainbow.  I want to add some gold and black to balance it out   .

3.  Other people always tell me I look good in the color     aqua and blue.  It apparently brings out my eyes    .

4. The color I detest is     none of them!  I think they all have their place but I will say that baby pink isn't one of my favorite.  However, bright pink is great!.

5. If you were to look in my closet most of the colors you'd see would be    orange and antique white .

6. A color that I simply cannot pull off no matter how hard I try is    yellows and tan.  I look way way washed out and yellow actually. I wish I could wear mustard yellow.  It is so pretty but I couldn't pull it off to save my life  .

7.  The color of my favorite dress is   orange (seeing a pattern?).  It is so comfortable!

Sunday Songs

Another Bob Marley song!  Bob Marley has a special place in my heart because any of his music instantly calms the Lola down.  It has calmed her down since infancy!  She loves his music just as much as I do.  We thought it was a fluke the first time we tried it when she was a baby.  She was only like 2 weeks old and it seemed to cast a sweet spell over her.  She literally calmed right down.  We have been using his music to chill her out ever since.  And it works like a charm every single time.  This song is the one they request almost every night before bed.  Love it!!

Link A Day

This is a day late.  We take St Patricks Day pretty serious around here!  So celebrating was all I thought about.  It was wonderful!  It was a super great way to end another less than stellar week.  Sickies all week!  But we are all on the mend and we partied it up yesterday.  SO Happy Saint Patrick's Day!!

This is a great post that has 7 different ways to wear a chambray shirt.  I am wanting to find one at a thrift store and haven't yet.

This little planter for your bike is super rad.  I want one for my bike this spring and summer.

Speaking of raaaaaad!  This glow in the dark raw crystal necklace is so cool!  Plus it has a skull pendant.  Um what?!

Free fox doll pattern!  So awesome.  I need to make a boy and a girl version for the kids.  I love foxes so maybe I will be making it for myself instead!

This is a very sweet idea for keeping memories through out the year.  You could make one year after year and watch the line of them grow.

I love the idea of a prize ball!  I think that the kids need some in their easter basket for sure.

The little terrarium jars are all over the blogosphere right now and I like them.  I really love this take on them however!

Do or don't: orange lipstick

So what do you guys think?  Orange lipstick... a DO or a DON'T?  I totally love it!  I say a big fat DO.  So really I will be wearing orange lipstick no matter what.  It reminds me of my grandma.  Now I need to find a super bright corally color just like she used to wear.  She was a classy lady.  Wearing crazy lipstick makes me feel closer to her.  Weird but true!

The beautiful orange color makes me smile every time I put it on.  But I would love someone else's opinion besides my husband.  He likes anything that he thinks I love.  Smart man!  I would love to read any and all opinions.  So let me know what you think!

Sup?!

So I love our new camera.  OH yes I do!  You could possibly say that I am in love with it.

Chocolat!

I am still trying to find the fourth Harry Potter in hardback at a thrift store.  I am being a little stubborn to say the least.  I can't continue on without it but I am too dang cheap to buy it full price!!  SO in the meantime I have distracted myself by reading Chocolat by Joann Harris.  I love the movie so much!  Not surprisingly the book is pretty different than the movie.  It is just as good though.  I don't want to ruin any of the book so I won't tell you any of the differences- just trust me that it is a good read.  It was pretty fast too.  That was nice!  I love a good quick read.  I will tell you that Pantouffe is a rabbit!  Not a kangaroo!  See these are the things you will find out when you read the book!

And just for fun:

So I think that my book count is officially at 9!  Only 3 more to go and I can cross read 12 books off of my 27 before 28 list.  That only leaves like 26 more to go.....

I can't seem to get enough of Bob Marley lately and this is by far my favorite song of his.

Link a Day

It has been a long week of sick kids and ER visits!  I am not going to lie that I was ready for this one to end.  Onward and upward!  On a lighter note- we got a new bed.  On a sour note the box spring doesn't fit down our stairs.  BAH!  Now we have to have custom ones made.  I am trying not to think about it since I can't change it.  Any ways... here is a few links!

This fold over clutch tutorial would make a great Sunday afternoon project.

This is such a cool idea for artwork for a kids room!  I love that she came up with something that they can help create for their space.

The dry indoor air has been bad for my skin this winter.  My face is drying out so much that it is scaly.  Not good!  I am in serious need of this exfoliator and I think that I will finish with this mask!

I love this article over at Hello Giggles.  It works great for any stage of life.  Find your passion!

This idea is fabulous!  I think that the kids and I need to do this ASAP.  It is a neat way to make your community immediately better.

Doesn't it seem like spring is already in the air?  I can't help but hope that we have more winter.  I know I know- everyone thinks I am crazy but I adore winter!  I do however love spring nights.  We need figure out some lighting so that we can hang out in the back yard at night.  I am thinking something like this.  Isn't it lovely?

And to round out this weeks list?  This recipe for lemon coconut cheesecake bites.  Holy yummy!  Oh and these are no bake.  Say what?!

Fill In The Blank

1.  My favorite room in my home is     slowly becoming my bedroom    because     we are working on making a more cozy room   .

2.   My current decor style is     bright!  and mix and matchy .  but I wish it were more     cohesive.  I need to get a really clear idea of what I want.  Maybe I don't though!  It is a modge podge of things that make us smile .

3.  I wish I could redecorate the     downstairs bathroom     room in my house to make it more       fun!  It is blah and boring .

4. My dream house absolutely has to have a     a wrap around porch and a great kitchen to entertain in.  I want to be able to sit on our porch and get to know the people in our neighborhood and then have them over to have a meal in our awesome kitchen! .

5. One house item I am willing to splurge on is     a nice piece of art.  Art is like the beauty mark of your house.  People always notice it and comment on it .

6. A decor trend that I just don't "get" is    the log cabin look.  The whole ski lodge look is not my taste  .

7.   My kids and husband (haha)    is a little touch that makes my house feel like home

Nifty thrifting!

I found an awesome hand embroidered table runner thrifting this week.  And not only that but it is Easter themed!  Pretty perfect don't ya think?  Plus some awesome shoes that are in desperate need of a serious shoe shine.  A mason jar and a tupperware cup round out my pull this week.  I love vintage tupperware!  Like I can't resist it.  It all comes home with me.  I get so excited if I find a container that has a lid that I often do a little dance!!

Look at the beautiful detail of my newly acquired table runner!  I need to learn to embroider.  I would love to make something so lovely.

the rundown:
shoes $5
table runner $2
tupperware cup .50 cents
mason jar .50 cents

total $8

Everyone jump over to Harpers Happenings to join in the High on Thrifting thrifty fun!

March Goals

I have a few goals for March.  I am not the best on follow through!  So I am hoping that I can tick some things off my little list.  I am trying to split up my 27 before 28 list over the next 3 months.  Or else none of it is going to get done!  On to the March goals:

* start making our quilt for our bed

*make a pinhole camera

*plan a road trip to the Grand Canyon for May

*make a kick-a pie from scratch and blog it

*finish at least two Harry Potter books

*send 3 letters/packages the snail mail way!

*start the Home Ec course!

*order and paint a paint-by-number

*get 3 blankets done for the Road Home

A longish list but pretty do-able if I get on it!  Wish me luck!

First Official Haircut

This last weekend my little man went from this:

and this:

through this:

and this:

and this

to end up like this:

I am still a little emotional about it.  I was and still am in love with his long curly locks.  He looks a little bit like Dudley Moore now.  This was his first actual haircut.  It isn't exactly what I asked for but really what can I expect when the boy was crying?  I have to admit that it will be nice for his hair to not always look like it is on the verge of turning into dreadlocks.  Which would be totally rad except he is a little young still.  I would be the mom that wanted to give my kid dreadlocks for me and not because he chose it.  Plus the screaming, wailing and thrashing about that happened every time we brushed it was a big motivator.  We took him to a really old school barber shop.  It was pretty fantastic!  They were so nice but he was so upset while the woman was cutting his hair.  In fact when he saw it he told me that he looked like a girl now all the while he had huge tears rolling down his face!  I had to explain that most boys have short hair and girls usually have long hair.  My sweet boy!  He loves it now.  He gets upset when people touch it because they are "ruining" his hair.  It will take some getting used to but he is so handsome that it won't take long!

Link A Day

Yay girls scout cookies!!  Really does anything else need to be said?  I love this time of year.  Girl scout cookies are a bright spot in a gray winter.  OH and we got a new camera this week.  I couldn't be more thrilled.  Oh oh and we went to Jump Around Utah.  That place is super rad!  It is pretty much a big room full of bounce houses and a huge playground.  Awesome!  It is hardly necessary to say that the kids loved it.  It's been a winner of a week mostly.  I hope yours has been great too!  And on to a great weekend!

I am going to start drinking hot lemon and ginger water in the mornings.  Look at this blog post for all the health benefits.  The list is crazy like whoa!

This t-shirt is geeky chic at its finest!!  I think Lola needs one in her wardrobe for sure.

I am trying out this recipe this weekend.  I am on a mission to find a really great recipe for broccoli cheddar soup since it is by far my favorite kind.

I am working on my new years resolution of cozying things up around here.  I found two darling pillow covers that would be great!  The little deer one makes me think of winter and the yellow flowers would be perfect for summer.

I would say that I am for sure a dog person but this little cat book mark makes me smile!  I am re-reading the Harry Potter series and I need one hanging on the pages.

This article about working with your hands is great!  It just might be the key to happiness.

Isn't it weird when you start thinking about something and then it shows up?  I was wanting to make a homemade sugar scrub for my scaly lips (seriously peeps- it has gotten bad!) and I found this recipe on Honestly... WTF.  Perfect!

Fill In The Blank

1.  The highlight of my week was      getting our new camera in the mail!  OH boy am I excited.

2.   If I had to classify my interior design aesthetic it would be     bright!  I buy what I love.  Which ends up meaning that it is a bit modge podge but I really love it .

3.  My first vehicle was     a 1993 Ford Taurus.  It was great until I blew the engine!  I am not mechanically inclined .

4. An item I need to have in my day in order to function is    my cell phone  I don't have a fancy one- it doesn't even have the internet but I love being able to text and stay in touch all day long .

5. My favorite way to waste time is    by checking my favorite blogs and watching Bones.  I could do those two things all day and be completely content .

6. Right now I could really go for    some fajitas!  Lucky for me we are about to eat a whole boat load  .

7.  This weekend I will be   getting pictures of the boys awesome long, curly hair and then getting said long hair cut.  I am a bit emotional about it to say the least.  However, the maintenance is getting to be more than I can take .
