30 Day Photo Challenge

Day #6
childhood memory

This is the ranch house up at my family's property.  We didn't go there a whole lot when I was a kid but some of my favorite memories are from up there.  I hope it is a place that my kids can make a lot of memories!

I cut my bangs!

The above photo is my attempt to seduce you all.  HAHA!  I can't help but crack up every time I look at it.  Do I look sick to any one else?  Yeah I swear I was going for "come hither" not "I just might lose my cookies".  I am working on the posing.

Any ways... the point of this post was to show you all my new bangs.  I cut those bad boys myself.  Um yeah you heard right I rocked some shears!  I had a three day weekend this past weekend and in between all the other crap I had to do I cut up my hair.  I was wicked nervous to get started.  Luckily I had my sister in law there by my side to rescue me if I got too nervous.  And this amazing tutorial from
The Vintage Wife as my guide.  Man oh man was that first cut a rush!  Oh baby!  I just might need to find some tutorials for adding layers in next.  I will admit that I need to clean them up a bit more but all in all the end result is what I wanted.  The craziest part was that just adding bangs made me start trying a little harder when getting ready.  I have actually worn make-up everyday since doing this.  That is a crazy big deal for me!!  It is just what I needed!  The only issue I have had is that they seem to make me a bit more hot so in hindsight I should have probably waited until closer to the end of September to cut them.

So I think this might count as # 22 on my 27 before 28 list!  One down 27 to go!

Sunday Songs

This man speaks to my heart!  Paul Simon will always be my favorite artist.  His music always reminds me of some of my best memories growing up.  Most of all he makes me think of my dad.  And I seem to be extra sentimental lately.

Baked Chicken Taquitos

OKay two things first!  One- I had a realization today that I am becoming like my grandma.  She used to put food into empty bread sacks and cool whip containers when I was little.  My mom used to tell me that it was the depression attitude.  Waste not- want not.  I thought she was such a freaking weirdo!  Now I am doing the same thing.  I put two pieces of chicken in a tortilla bag and tossed it on inside the fridge.  I did it without even thinking about it.  What a strange moment it was once I realized what I had done.  It surprises me the things I have picked up from my grandma.  It made me miss her a little more than usual today.

Now onto two- How do you get good pictures of food?!  I can't figure it out.  I need a better camera but until that happens I am going to have to work with what I got.  I need to figure out how to get better light I think for sure.  any way- any tips would be greatly appreciated!  And a huge apology for the blurry dark picture!  Don't let the picture discourage you from trying this recipe though.  It is awesome!  I got the recipe from my sister over at Jandee Crafts.  She links in her post where she originally got it.  I changed it up a little so here is my adaptation.

Baked Chicken Taquitos

One 8oz brick cream cheese
1/2 cup green salsa
Juice from 2 limes
1 tsp cumin
2 tsp chili powder
1/2 of an onion, finely chopped
3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
one bunch of cilantro cut up
2 lbs chicken cut up into small cubes
Fajita size flour tortillas
Couple tbsp butter melted

Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.  Prepare a baking sheet with a layer of foil.  Spray foil with cooking spray.  In a large skillet cook chicken, onion and garlic until cooked through. Add cream cheese, green salsa, cumin and chili powder.  Stir until cream cheese is melted and combined.  Turn off heat.  Add cheese, lime juice and cilantro.  Mix until combined.  Load each tortilla with 2-3 Tbsp of mixture.  Roll and put seam side down onto prepared baking sheet.  Brush with butter.  Cook for 15-20 minutes.

I think I am going to make a big batch of these to freeze!  Instead of butter you can spray with cooking spray to help with some of the calories.  Oh and I used chicken thighs because I like the flavor in things like this but again using chicken breasts would be fewer calories.

Photo Challenge Day #4

Photo Challenge Day #4
favorite color

My favorite color isn't always green but today it is!  This one was way harder than I expected.  It was so hard to narrow it down to just one color.  Green is one my favorite but how can I choose just one?

to see the challenge go on over here!

Sunday Songs

I found this over at Skunk Boy Creatures.  From the time I hit play til the end Lola was a dancing fool!  It was awesome.  She makes me a happy momma!  So far I am a huge fan of every song I have heard from The Like!

Photo Challenge Day #3
clouds!

I swear I didn't forget about the photo challenge.  I was supposed to get pictures of clouds for day three but we have had cloudless skies for a few days now.  So I decided to just go with what we have going on over in my neck of the woods.  Blue skies and big trees!  I will be back later with day four of the challenge.

SWOON!!!

OKay I may have gone a little nuts with these items from TopShop but I want every single one of them for fall!!!  Pretty much anything from their Prim and Polished look book is on my want list.  It all works so well together.  You could have an infinity number of outfits.  Yeah an infinity!   Definitely some inspiration for some fall/winter clothes.

Hey photo taking friends!

This picture has absolutely nothing to do with this post but I might be a little in love with both of my babies so they pop up everywhere!

I found this month long photo challenge a little late but I am so excited about participating!  It is over at
oh so lovely which really is oh so lovely!  It is a very pretty blog.  Inspiring and wonderful!  She put it together with Jenn from Jenn and Tonic.  Which from what I have seen so far is a great blog as well.  Go check out the challenge if you want to participate in it.  They give all the details here or here.  I will be back later today with my first picture!

Funny Post!

Okay this is shameless promotion of my husbands blog but he did a post yesterday about a Monkey Tail beard that is pretty stinking funny!  The Monkey tail beard has a freaking website devoted to it!  To peruse click on the above link.  Actually the monkey tail beard looks more like raccoon tail beard to me.  That doesn't change the fact that it is a pretty hilarious post!  Keep in mind that it is mostly (but not entirely) a joke and also that the man is very attached to his beard.
